Chowan University is located in eastern North Carolina in the small town of Murfreesboro, halfway between Raleigh and Virginia Beach and just 60 miles from Norfolk, VA. With a rich history of almost 175 years of preparing students for the challenges of an ever-changing world, you will quickly see why we are excited to be at Chowan. Situated on a beautiful 450 acre campus, there is no shortage of green space, surrounded by wooded areas and several lakes in the area. 2024 will be the first year that Chowan University hosts FUGE Camps!
Amenities
Cafeteria style dining at Thomas Hall, which offers quality food, excellent customer service, and a wide range of offerings, including dietary friendly options.
Free time options include swimming pool, auxiliary gymnasium for basketball and other activities, plenty of outdoor field space for different activities, including tournaments hosted by camp staff. Finally, be sure to check out Murf’s & Hawk’s Nest – their student center with a limited menu for afternoon snacks.
Dorms are traditional dorms with 2 people per room and most buildings have community bathrooms. Beds are twin size and linens are not provided. Please be aware that your group is personally responsible for damages to any facilities including but not limited to the dorm room your group occupies. You will also be asked by the facility to pay for any lost keys. *Information listed above is subject to change without notice.

Legin
Legin is a rap artist, a John Maxwell certified speaker, and an advocate who focuses on reconciliation and life change. Legin is his first name, Nigel, spelled backwards because Christ turned his life around, and that’s his message everywhere he goes. He has released several projects and singles over the years to a growing fanbase including the “Rooftop Prophet” EP, “In Awe” with over 470K+ streams, and “Stop” which had a music video premiered on Revolt TV, P. Diddy’s network.
Legin is the founder of The Safe House Project, an anti-sex trafficking organization increasing survivor identification, education and safe housing for survivors. Legin preaches at his home church, CrossRoads in Norfolk VA monthly, and is a regular speaker at churches, conferences, schools and prisons. He is currently working on a documentary film called LEGINDARY telling his story of forgiving his father’s absence and all God has done to be released to film festivals in the Fall of 2023, and hoping for major streaming in 2024.
Most importantly, Legin has been Tia’s husband for 17 years, and a father to Shekinah and Josiah, residing in Virginia Beach, VA.
Worship Leader
Abed Rondina
Abed Rondina is a worship leader based in Massachusetts and serves at Hope Chapel in Sterling, MA in the worship and youth ministry. He is finishing his Senior year at UMass Amherst with a Bachelor’s degree in Communications. He began going to FUGE Camps as a student in 2017 and became a FUGE Camps Staffer in 2022 where he served in the Philadelphia location as a video producer, then in 2023 in the same location as a worship leader. Abed is passionate about praising God through songs inspired by scripture and truth, and is determined to lead others into pure-hearted worship. He believes that worship through music is just one way we can worship the Lord, and that worship is a lifestyle rather than an experience. He is ready to see the life-change that the Lord will bring through FUGE Camps and through the local church with the next generation of Christ followers.
