Frequently Asked Questions

General

What does FUGE Camps believe as an organization?

FUGE Camps is an organization of Lifeway Christian Resources. To learn more about what we believe here at Lifeway, please visit the link below.

Lifeway Doctrinal Guidelines

How can I get information about a specific location?

Click on Camp Details at the camp location you are interested in to find out more info on that location. You will also find information there for each location’s coordinator in case you have additional questions.

Who can I talk with if I have questions about my location?

Contact the FUGE Camps office via email at [email protected]. You can also connect with the FUGE Camps Coordinator who is over the location you are attending by finding their contact info at this link.

What approach do you use for Bible study?

Our Bible study sessions are 45-50 minutes and are guided-discovery learning. In other words, no strict lecturing. We incorporate activities and discussions to help students retain and apply truths to their life.

All Bible study leaders must teach from the Bible Study Leader Guide and follow the teaching plans there. Staffers are not allowed to go rogue and teach their own plan. Lessons are built around a thematic plan that encompasses all elements of camp.

In addition to the Bible study time, we build a quiet time into the schedule. Each student receives a Camp Guide with quiet times included. They are given 15 minutes daily before Bible study to have a personal devotional time with God.

How do I know that your material is trustworthy?

All Bible study materials go through a theological review and an outside editor to ensure that they are biblically sound and appropriate for the given audience.

Can accommodations be made for my group?

This depends on the location your group will be attending. However, most of our locations are able to work with us on dietary and housing accommodations. For more information about accommodations, please email [email protected].

Can FUGE Camps accommodate a camper with a disability?

FUGE Camps is not a special needs camp, so we are not designed to meet the needs of every student with a disability. However, when accommodations are possible, we maintain a posture of openness and partnership with church groups, desiring that every student have the opportunity to respond to the gospel message at camp.

We encourage group leaders who have campers with a disability to email [email protected] or the individual camp coordinator over your particular camp location. Together, we can discuss a strategy for partnering to make sure every camper has an incredible experience.

We will work with our location staff for housing and food needs. We provide a limited number of noise reduction headphones and earplugs in the auditorium for campers with sensory issues. For campers who require additional support, we often request an adult from the host church group accompany campers throughout camp programs and activities.

How many adults should we bring?

1 adult for every 5 students (gender specific). To serve as an adult sponsor at camp, a person must be one year out of high school.

If my church uses MinistrySafe, will that count for our Child Protection Training requirement?

If your church uses MinistrySafe and you have completed that training within one calendar year of your DEPARTURE date from camp, that course will suffice for this training requirement.

At what age may students attend FUGE Camps?

FUGE Camps are for students having completed 6th grade through 12th grade. Bible studies, track times, recreation, ministry sites and other programming elements are built around the developmental needs of students in these age groups.

If you have a student that has just completed 5th grade and is wanting to attend camp, that student may come to camp, but will not be able to participate in a student bible study and certain track times. The 5th grade student will need to attend the adult gathering with their adult(s) during bible study. The final call will land with the FUGE Camps Coordinator over that camp location.

My child is too young to attend FUGE Camps. Can I still bring them along with our group?

Click here to read our Children at Camp Policy.

If you choose to bring your own children who are outside of our camper age range, you must include them on your Participant List. When you mark their age, the form below will populate. You will need to complete the form. Your children must remain in your supervision throughout the camp daily schedule.

Please note that not all of our camp locations allow children outside of FUGE Camps camper age. See below for those locations with restrictions.

Mississippi College will not allow any children on campus.

World Song will not allow any children on campus.

Southern Seminary will not allow any children under the age of 10 to stay on campus.

Berry College will not allow any children younger than camper age to be housed on campus.

Children at Camp Form

The schedule talks about ministry sites and track times. What is the difference here?

If you have registered your group for MFuge, you will be getting to participate in what we like to call Ministry Sites. These are different areas of the community in which you will be getting the opportunity to serve at. These are pre-selected by your students before arriving to camp.

If you have registered your group for Centrifuge, you will be getting to participate in what we like to call Track Times. Track Times are different areas of their own interest that your students get to participate in. Students will preference these when they arrive to camp on the first day.

Where can my students find lost items they lost at camp?

Each camp location has a lost and found bin where lost items get put during the camp session. If a student has lost an item and it is not in the lost and found bin, check with your camp’s Assistant Director.

Any item in the lost and found after each camp session gets boxed up and is sent back to our warehouse where we will hold it for 6 months. Please reach out to [email protected] if you have any questions.

Financial

When are deposits and payments due?

Before January 15: You may reserve your spot at camp anytime before January 15, 2026 with no deposit.

January 15: A $125 per person non-refundable deposit is required for each reservation to be paid on or before January 15.  Any new or additional reservations made after January 15 will require an immediate $125 non-refundable deposit per person.  All deposits are non-refundable and cannot be applied toward balance due.

May 1 Cancellation Deadline: An additional $75 late cancellation fee will be incurred for each decreased person after May 1. When you decrease your registration, previous deposit payments made cannot be applied or transferred toward final balance due.

14 Days Before Your Group Arrives at Camp: Final balance must be received by this time.  This money is non-refundable and non-transferable after 14 days before camp. If the final balance due is not paid by this time, your group will be charged a one-time $75 late fee.

Auto Payment Option: Authorized Group Leaders may give permission to charge deposits, late cancellation fees and balance due to a church Lifeway account by calling Lifeway Events Registration at 1-877-CAMP-123. Authorization to charge your Lifeway account must be updated on a yearly basis.

Weather and National Disaster Cancellation Policy

We are always committed to hosting planned camps and events as scheduled. Simultaneously, your group’s safety is our priority. If circumstances beyond the control of either party including dangerous weather conditions or national disaster make hosting a planned event illegal, impossible, or irresponsible and we cancel the event, we will refund your deposits and final balance, if they have been paid.  If you cancel your registration on your own, we will not be able to refund your deposits.

Sales Tax

Lifeway is required to collect sales tax for events held in Arkansas, Colorado, Indiana, Kentucky and Virginia. The sales tax charge will be added to the final balance on your camp confirmation statement. For churches traveling from out of state, you must send Lifeway a sales tax exemption for the state in which the event is held to have these taxes removed. Churches may obtain the proper documentation from the state’s Department of Taxation or Department of Revenue where available (Arkansas does not provide churches with exemption status). State tax exemption forms are to be scanned and emailed to [email protected].

When is my final balance due?

Final balance must be received 14 days prior to camp.

What is included in the price of camp?

Lodging, meals starting with dinner on opening night through breakfast on closing morning, t-shirt, name tag, Camp Guide, and all supplies needed for camp.

Housing

What if I want to know the housing situation at my location?

Contact the FUGE Camps office via email at [email protected] or visit your location’s Camp Details page on our website.

Will my group be sharing a room with students of another church?

As a general rule, your group will be your group will be housed together and will only share bedrooms with those of the same gender in your own group. However, depending on the size of your group and the size of the dorms, your group may be housed in the same building as other churches.

What to Bring

What do my students need to bring to camp?

Bible, shorts and t-shirts, shoes-tennis shoes for recreation and sandals if desired, personal hygiene items, linens (favorite pillow, twin size sheets & towels), money for snacks and items in the FUGE Camps store and other optional items such as a water bottle.

What should my students not bring to camp?

Alcohol, tobacco, illegal drugs, fireworks, any kind of weapon, water guns, water balloons. We recommend no computers, iPads, or gaming devices, roller blades or skateboards. If students do bring cell phones, please ensure these are not distractions at camp.

Are my students allowed to bring their medication to camp?

If you have students who will be on medication prescribed by a doctor while they are at camp, we highly encourage the group leader or an adult from the group to be the one to carry and administer that medication to the student.

Any over-the-counter medications should also be carried and administered by the group leader or an adult in the group.

For any questions or accommodations that need to be met in regards to medication at camp, please reach out to [email protected].

As my students are packing for camp, what is the dress code they need to follow while at FUGE Camps?

Please ask your students and adult sponsors not to pack anything that:

  • Advertises alcohol, tobacco, illegal drugs
  • Explicitly or implicitly promotes racism, sexism, or hatred of any group or person
  • Explicitly or implicitly refers to sexual actions or situations
  • Shirts with spaghetti straps, open backs, or excessive armpit cutouts which expose torso and undergarments, or that show midriff
  • Is excessively short or tight fitting
  • Large t-shirts that cover shorts should not be worn

While at camp, we ask that students and adults:

  • Wear closed-toed closed-heel shoes to recreation & track times (Centrifuge) or ministry sites (MFuge), and Mega Relay.
  • Wear modest shorts (when hands are extended to the back or the front, finger tips must touch fabric). Sleeveless shirts and tank tops are allowed during day-time activities.
  • Wear modest, one-piece bathing suits or two piece suits covered with a dark colored t-shirt, if you plan to take the water games track or swim in the pool during hang time.
  • Wear modest shorts (when hands are extended to the back or the front, finger tips must touch fabric), dresses, slacks, and jeans for worship. Long pants or knee-length skirts are required for students or adults participating in worship on stage.
  • Do not dress in a way that calls attention to their underwear (sagging your pants, rolling down your waistbands, etc)

We invite you to join us as leaders in monitoring your group to ensure they are dressing appropriately.

Employment

When does the application process begin for next summer?

The application process is from June 1 through May 1. The earlier you apply the better!

Primary placement for new applicants takes place in early December. Spring placements will occur only on an as-needed basis. We suggest that applicants complete the application, references, and interview prior to December 1; however, individuals may still apply and interview throughout the spring to potentially fill open staff positions due to increased registration numbers.

What do I have to do to apply for camp?

Complete an application and schedule an interview by going to fugecamps.com and clicking on “Employment” at the top of the homepage.

After completing all forms and submitting your application, you will be guided through a process where you will have the opportunity to choose a time for an online interview through Zoom.

Do I get paid?

Yes. First year staffer salaries range between $300-350 per week. Staffers are paid bi-weekly.

How long will I be at camp?

Camps usually run for 5-7 weeks. Teams train together for a week before campers arrive. A typical summer will be about 7 weeks, although there are locations that are both shorter and longer.

How old do I have to be?

Applicants must turn 19 years of age and be one year removed from high school by August 1st to work FUGE Camps.

Do I get to choose where I go?

No. We take prayerful consideration to place the right people on the right team.

What experience should I have?

We look for staff who have experience leading in a Bible study or small group capacity as well as experience in the specific track times for which they apply.

We are always looking for well rounded, Christ-like leaders who are passionate about leading the next generation to know Jesus.

Will I be trained?

We take 9 days to train staffers at the beginning of the summer. We will train each staffer in Bible Study, recreation, track times, ministry sites, leadership, etc.

How do I get to camp?

We will reimburse you up to $250 in gas receipts round trip to bring your vehicle to camp or fly you to the camp location if we place you further than 325 miles from your home. Have other questions? Email your questions to [email protected].

International Mission Board (IMB)

https://www.imb.org/fuge/

The International Mission Board teams up with local churches to share God’s love with people all across North Africa and the Middle East (NAME). These places are packed with amazing history. It’s where Jesus’ story began! This summer, you get to be part of bringing hope to kids and families who live there.

We’re focusing on a country that has become a safe place for people who had to leave their homes because of war. It’s a place where God is doing some amazing things! Teens just like you are helping share the hope of Jesus with people from different backgrounds.

Your mission workers are helping families hear about Jesus in all kinds of ways. Many people are hearing the good news of Jesus Christ every day.

Here’s the cool part: YOU get to be part of it. Your prayers, mission offering, and everything you learn this summer helps you join in on what God is doing in this amazing place.

Every year a portion of the mission offering received at camp goes back to the local community through MFuge grants. Local ministries that we partner with can apply for the grant to continue ministry throughout the year. It is amazing to see how the Lord uses these ministries throughout the year.

North American Mission Board (NAMB)

“We lead the country in everything you don’t want to lead the country in.”

If people know anything about South Dakota’s Pine Ridge Indian Reservation, Matt Hadden says it’s probably that.

“We have 80% unemployment, the average lifespan of an adult male is 50 years, and the teen suicide rate is 300% higher than the national average,” he says. “Several years ago, we had 26 teenagers take their lives in a three-month period. If that happened anywhere else in the country, it would be national news.”

Matt is a missionary with Send Relief, Southern Baptists’ compassion ministry arm. He and his wife, Amanda, along with their four kids, run the Čhaŋkú Wašté Ranch on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation, home to the Oglala Lakota people.

“Čhaŋkú Wašté means ‘Good Road,’” he says, “and there’s a reason we call it that. The Oglala are essentially an unreached people group right here in the center of our country, and there’s so much brokenness here. Most people on the reservation, kids especially, have been through traumatic experiences or are living in crisis mode. And so, we are absolutely an evangelistic ministry, but our approach is through compassion ministry.”

Much of what the Haddens do at Čhaŋkú Wašté is built around an eight-week-long summer kids’ camp. “We do a really big, glorified VBS,” Matt says. “It’s a safe place for kids to learn and celebrate who God made them to be. They learn Bible stories, they play games, they do arts and crafts, and really, we just all have a lot of fun.”

When you give to the FUGE Missions Offering, you’re helping provide basketballs, Bibles, crayons, and anything else missionaries like the Haddens might need to share Christ in an unreached place.

Pray that Matt and Amanda will be fully supplied so they can meet needs and see God change lives in South Dakota. Giving to this project will go a long way towards making that happen.

To learn exactly what your offering dollars can do in places like South Dakota and how missionaries all over the U.S. and Canada are meeting needs and seeing God change lives, go to namb.net/lifeway-camps.
