Student Leader Apprentice

The FUGE Student Leader Apprentice (SLA) program is a two-week experience for students who love camp and want to gain hands-on leadership experience in a camp environment. Students go behind the scenes at FUGE and learn valuable leadership skills within the camp ministry setting. SLA is designed for students who are about to enter or who have just completed their senior year in high school.

During the first week of the program, students will participate in a variety of experiences including a personality and leadership assessment, ministry sites, recreation, Bible study, development of leadership skills, prayer experiences, worship, etc. During the second week, students will be apprenticed to a FUGE Camps staffer and will gain hands-on camp experience. Students will serve in a variety of roles assisting the overall camp program. The apprentice week will give students a first-hand look at camp ministry as well as prepare them for future leadership roles.

I enjoyed shadowing my staffer during the second week the most. The second week was the best for me because it was such a unique opportunity. I had never gotten to see camp like that. I was able to help in Bible Study and spend time with staff. I loved serving with the staff and seeing what they do. It opened my eyes to how much work and prayer goes into the fuge experience. It challenged me and encouraged me so much! The Holy Spirit moved and brought so many blessings.

I came into SLA not knowing why I was there at first. The first week I wanted my relationship with the Lord to grow, and it did. The Bible studies came at the perfect time for me. God really restored me after the first week. I did not expect much from the second week. God definitely did way more than I was expecting the second week. SLA is a great way to become a better Christ-like leader.

2025 IMPORTANT DATES AND REQUIREMENTS IF SELECTED: We ask that you fill out your application by January 31st, 2025. You must also have 3 references submitted by January 31st in order for you to be considered. If you are selected to participate, you will be notified via e-mail no later than February 10th, 2025.
